At this year's E3 we caught up with DICE general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson and talked with him about Battlefield 4, Mirror's Edge 2 and Star Wars: Battlefront.

The main focus of the interview was on Battlefield 4, which featured prominently in both Microsoft and EA's conferences. One of the levels on show was Siege of Shanghai, and the incredible destruction that it allows in the game (more on that here).

DICE are calling it Levolution, and they're particularly proud of the map they were showing at E3: "Siege of Shanghai is probably the most ambitious multiplayer map we've ever done in the history of Battlefield... It's a really special map."

After the fairly linear single-player experience in Battlefield 3, DICE are hoping to introduce some changes to improve on areas that were lacking last time around: "What we're trying to build with the single-player is a single-player campaign that takes the a lot of inspiration from the multiplayer part of Battlefield. Where you have much more choice, so it's not just about a linear game, it's about a game that might be linear at some point, then it opens up and it's up to you the player how you want to play it."

The words on everybody's lips at this year's event were definitely "next-gen," with both Sony and Microsoft showing off their new consoles. We asked what that would mean for Battlefield players: "One thing that might not sound so sexy, for some people that don't play battlefield, is the fact that we're now bringing 64 players to the next gen consoles, and we're doing this at a silky-smooth 60FPS... now that is a major change for the console players... that is next-gen to us."

Watch the rest of the interview for more information on the new game in the Mirror's Edge series, and another recently announced game that many of us will be looking forward to, Star Wars: Battlefront.

REVIEW. Written by Oskar Nyström

"No one will leave this game disappointed, unless your focus is the single-player mode."
