While it seems like Final Fantasy is gradually picking itself back up from a troublesome few years in the form of A Realm Reborn, Lightning Returns and Final Fantasy XV, the company's president acknowledged the firm's recent woes, and offered a personal apology to fans at the start of their E3 presentation.

"Final Fantasy has always been the focus of attention and there have been a variety of different opinions surrounding the franchise," stated Yosuke Matsuda. "With all these strong titles in our line-up, we'd like to reassert how wonderful the Final Fantasy brand is. We also announced the development of Kingdom Hearts III last night. We are very excited to be working with Disney and are looking forward to matching fan expectations.

"Since last fiscal year, with news of our earnings call and changing of our CEO, I'm sorry we've caused so many worries. With E3 2013 as our base point, we are going to push forward in a stronger and bigger way."

"It feels like the series should feel, but adapted for a modern audience, and we're so glad that Tabata pulled this massive project together in the way that he did."
