The first part of EVE Online's expansion Incarna was added to the game yesterday, adding actual walking avatars to the game for the first time during its eight year run (previously your character was limited to a portrait). The only area you can actually move around in at this point is a single-player environment known as the Captain's Quarters, which we've grabbed a few screenshots of below. Right now there's no way to meet other players this way, so that's still limited to the classic activities like scamming them on the market or blowing their ships up in space.

Incarna 1.0 also added the Noble Exchange, a virtual store where players can buy various vanity items for their avatars. Currently the prices in the Noble Exchange are what a lot of players feel a bit on the high side, and a simple monocle for your character will cost you quite a bit of money - either €70 if you go for paying real money, or around 1,3 billion ISK if you want to pay with in-game currency. Other clothing items in the store will set you back from between €5 to €20.

Looking at my ship. Yes, I know it's a Drake - normally I wouldn't be seen dead in a Caldari ship.
