After leaks and teasers Activision have now finally shown Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 officially. Most of it seems to confirm what was previously leaked through Kotaku.

Modern Warfare 3 picks up where the second game ended. Washington is in flames, and the Russians are invading the east coast. Developers Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have so far shown two levels of the game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

The first levels sees the player trying to make his way towards the New York stock exchange. You will be driving a Humvee, and will be attacked by Russians from all directions, you vehicle gets flipped and you will make your way towards a building where a helicopter has crashed. It's unknown at this point whether there will be some degree of dynamic destruction in the game (like recent Battlefield titles).

You will fight your way up to the roof of the stock exchange where you will guide a Reaper missile to take out a group of enemies and a helicopter. From this point the player jumps off the roof into a waiting helicopter and a duel with a Russian helicopter starts.

Later missions will take place in other locations in Europe, Africa, Russia and the Himalayas. When it comes to weapons the developers have shown off a sniper rifles equipped with explosive ammunition, and it also looks as though it will be possible to switch scopes on your weapons during the game.
