Rovio have announced that the Angry Birds franchise has hit 200 million downloads worldwide.
"We have seen more growth and engagement with Angry Birds games and merchandise across all markets," said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. "The growing numbers of fans give us more incentive to keep creating more fresh, fun and engaging Angry Birds experiences and making them available to everyone."
Meanwhile, Rovio are looking to expand the appeal of the franchise with social game in development and further "areas of the entertainment business" (animated series?, movie?). Angry Birds merchandise has shifted more than 3 million units (plush toys and the likes) worldwide to over 100 countries.
