Mass Effect 3 will miss its 2011 release window and instead see release at some point in early 2012.

The reason for the delay was explained by Executive Producer Casey Hudson, who explained: "Today we have confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012.

"The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone's expectations."

Delays are nothing new these days, but as has been proven in recent past by the likes of Batman: Arkham Asylum, longer gestation time does usually equate to a more polished, rounded game experience. So let's hope those extra months are well spent.
