If you're a big fan of the Mass Effect-games, you might want to stop reading after this initial paragraph as there might be things in this news piece that you don't want to know about Mass Effect 3 before it's released. Also, if you haven't played the Mass Effect-games yet you're not only a bad person, you might want to get on that straight away.

Is that enough of a spoiler warning? I'd like to think so. In the latest issue of Game Informer, which has started to arrive at the doors of subscribers, there's an article on the game - and the good citizens of NeoGAF have of course made a summary of all the important details.

Mass Effect 3 starts out with a trial, where Shepard has to defend herself (yes, herself, the male Shep is an imposter, don't trust him) because of his events in the DLC-pack The Arrival (that was released for Mass Effect 2 the other week). While the trial is going on, the Reapers return and the invasion begins.

Cerberus is supposedly no longer allied with Shepard, instead they want to hunt her down and kill her. Hopefully this means that the Illusive Man, played by Martin Sheen in Mass Effect 2, will get a lot of spoken lines. He's illusive, after all, which is cool.

It seems like there will be a lot of returning characters, as should be expected - Garrus, Wrex, Liara, Kaiden, Ashley, Mordin, Legion and Anderson are all slated to return (in case they were alive when you were done with the previous games, of course).

The third game will have more RPG features compared to Mass Effect 2, even if it won't go all the way back to the system from the first Mass Effect. Skill trees will be larger, powers will evolve more, and while weapons will still be using a similar system to Mass Effect 2, you will be able to customize them. Combat will also be similar to Mass Effect 2.

If you haven't played the old games (did we mention that you're a bad person?), there will be a comic available similar to the one that was included in the PS3-version of Mass Effect 2. The game will also come with several different endings, depending on the choices you make.

And finally, multiplayer will not be in the Mass Effect 3, despite all the rumours that it would.
