Saints Row IV out August, gets gameplay trailer

Volition unveils their superhuman trip to Steelport.

It really was only a matter of time. Saints Row IV was rumoured to be debuted at next week's PAX, but looks like publisher Deep Silver's jumped the gun a week early by releasing the first trailer.

Gameplay suggests the studio's had a glance at Crackdown and Prototype, as superpowers are now the norm for your character as you return to Steelport, letting you leap tall buildings, glide in the sky, run at super-sonic speeds...and basically treat the populace like your very own superhuman play-things.

There's also mech suits, car-surfing, brutal takedowns and a hell of a lot more in the trailer. Check it out here:

The game's due August 23rd on current-gen consoles.

We've know it was coming for some time, as last year DLC for the third game was cancelled in favour of a full-blown sequel. However, the game fell foul of the THQ bankruptcy, though given how far it had been believed to have been in development at that time it quickly found a new home at Deep silver during the sale of its former publisher's assets.
