Remember back in the days before Age of Conan was released and game director Gaute Godager (who later would leave the project and be replaced by Craig Morrison) likened World of Warcraft to McDonalds while his game was like a steak? This time around it's EA Games' Frank Gibeau's turn to make similar statements. Talking to IndustryGamers, Gibeau likened World of Warcraft to a simple shopping list.

"When I play World of Warcraft, you go and get your quests, and you go and do your quests, but it feels more like doing a shopping list at times," he said. Star Wars: The Old Republic, the big MMO project in the works at Bioware, on the other hand "is more about talking to characters, learning what's going on, investing in it, getting emotionally attached to it."

"You can still go in accessible ways and grind out quests if you want, but at the same time there's a higher-level story that's carrying you through The Old Republic," Gibeau continued. "It operates across multiple classes from Sith Warrior, Sith Inquisitors, bounty hunters, spies, troopers, to Jedis... it's a really fantastic world."
