Starcraft's farewell tournament

Before Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm launches next month, there's to be a tournament for Wings of Liberty so gamers can say goodbye to the fan favourite RTS game before a new era is ushered in by its sequel.

512 players will participate in the competition, with the finals to take place on March 11 at the launch event for Heart of the Swarm. Retailer Game are working with Razer and Multiplay to organise the event which will be streamed on Blizzard's official live stream.

Game's Anna-Marie Mason said: "Our community events program has rocketed out of the gates already in 2013, bringing gamers all around the UK exclusive and unique chances to get closer to the games they love. Whether in a friendly or fearsome spirit, competition is part of gaming DNA - and we're excited to be teaming up with Multiplay and Razer to give the UK StarCraft and gaming communities an opportunity to test their skills and to support E-Sports in the UK."

Adam "Madals" Simmons and Robert "Pughy" Pugh will be hosting the event on Game's Twitch TV channel, with highlights to appear on their Youtube Channel.
