The last week or so Gearbox Software's Randy Pitchford, who's really active on Twitter (220,000+ followers) has been flooded by negative feedback (and some positive as well) about Aliens: Colonial Marines. Pitchford has chosen not to respond to most of the negative insults, but replied to someone who joked rather crudely about how Pitchford wanted cakes, not yelling, but kept "beleep"-ing the cakes. Pitchford replied:

"I'm afraid it looks like I will lose a huge amount of money. We pay for our education..."

He also went on to tweet:

"I appreciate and value criticism. I do not appreciate threats, insults, rudeness and intent not to add value, but to injure."

It is unknown what Pitchford refers to, but it may be that Gearbox won't be getting royalties as a result of the low scores the game has been getting, or perhaps part of the actual milestone payments was hinging on the success of the game.
