Aliens: Colonial Marines was a massive disappointment last week as reviewers all over the world trashed it (for the most part, anyway). Turns out this wasn't enough to turn off UK consumers from buying the game as Sega's sequel to the 1986 James Cameron movie made it all the way to number one in the British charts this week. While some of you may exclaim "there is no God!" and rightfully so, it should be noted that competition wasn't all that strong with no other new releases coming close. Aliens: Colonial Marines did manage to become the biggest release so far of 2013, beating Dead Space 3, but fell short of beating the opening week of another disappointing Alien game from Sega - Aliens vs. Predator.

In second, a better albeit far from perfect, alternative to Aliens was Dead Space 3 with FIFA 13 showing strong legs as always in third.
