Daishi Odama is continuing his love-fest with Twitter.

First, he unofficially announced that a new Soul Calibur game was in the works, tweeting a simple "SC is back! Get ready, fans!" along with a studio image teasing artwork of the series' legendary swords (see below) on Christmas Day. Now he's been in open discussion with fans on the social network service about the possibility of guest stars appearing, reports Siliconera.

Responding to the question about guest characters, Odama-san tweeted "My personal opinions on what to expect from guest characters; It's popular(from any genre), Uses weapons; Matches the SC atmosphere...There is still a chance that the guest characters people suggest might make it into the game."

However, he cautioned, "Whether we will have a guest character at all this time is undecided tho."

Namco Bandai's fighting series has regularly flirted with guest appearances in the past, with Soul Calibur II gaining platform-specific fighters, while SCIV saw Yoda, Darth Vader and Starkiller join the scrap.

"Their relationship is a microcosm of the games overall theme; the battle between good and evil, between Soul Calibur and Soul Edge."
