Cliff Bleszinski has tweeted that Epic's Gears of War 3, on track for release in winter 2011, will have special unlockable goodies that can be accessed only if you've played certain previous Epic titles.
"Look for special unlocks in Gears 3 for those of you who have played other Epic games such as Shadow Complex, UT3, Gears, and Bulletstorm," the developer announced on Twitter.
By the sounds of it, we're assuming the Xbox 360 exclusive will read your HD to detect any save games from the listed the titles and drop a special bonus into the game for every one it finds. No details on what those extras will be.
It's not's particularly new feat, but it is a exceptionally groovy one. Who remembers the classic Psycho Mantis cut-scene in Metal Gear Solid, which would play out differently depending on what other Konami game saves the mind-reading boss could "see" on your inserted memory card.
So it might be another incentive to pick up those titles for a play, although do you really need more incentive to purchase the amazing Shadow Complex on XBLA, from the makers of Infinity Blade? Hell no. Go buy if you haven't already.
