While fantasy fans collectively jizzed in their pants on Saturday with the reveal of a new Elder Scrolls title, there was little in the way of details, other than to expect dragons in the game, which is due next year on November 11.

Well, we now know that Skyrim will be built on a all-new engine developed internally by Bethesda. Community manager Nick Brecon let slip on Twitter: "We can now confirm that the TES V: Skyrim engine is all-new. And it looks fantastic."

Responding to a query about the engine, he followed up by saying: "It's a new graphics/gameplay engine built internally. We'll have more details down the road."

Bethesda also let loose a press release confirming the title was on its way to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, hitting shop shelves simultaneously worldwide next November 11.

"It's exciting finally to announce the game," said Game Director on Skyrim Todd Howard on the press release. "We've been working for many years on Skyrim and the technology behind it. A new Elder Scrolls game has been a long time coming, and we can't wait to show it off."
