Earlier this year we found out that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds would be getting regular weekly and monthly updates as part of its early access schedule, however, a new Steam blog post has revealed that the devs are changing this schedule "to improve how we work on the game, as well as set realistic expectations for players."

This announcement said that the team will no longer have their scheduled weekly or monthly updates, as they found that being rushed to have certain features and having shorter QA test time meant it created more issues than it solved, and that quality should come above quantity. The test servers, however, will be utilised for significantly longer periods of time, and patches and hotfixes will instead be deployed where necessary now, so that when features are rolled out they should be more polished due to feedback.

"We want to thoroughly and truthfully emphasise that this will have absolutely no bearing on how much content we deliver, or how much we work on the development of the game. We will still inform our community with public patch notes outlining changes we've made with each update," the post adds. "Again, we would like to assure you all that we are still on-track to release our game as per our updated timeline, and we want to emphasise to you that we are not winding down the development, or complacent. We have a lot of work to do, and we want this game to be released with as many fun, rich, enjoyable features and mechanics as possible. Our team will continue to be hard at work, and we are always listening to your feedback."
