The Crash Bandicoot: Nsane Trilogy has been being very well both commercially and critically since its June release, but has also lead to some heated debate amongst players. Some of you don't like the changes Vicarious Visions has made, and feel that they've made the games more difficult, for instance, and the developers have finally decided to share their thoughts on the matter.

They've provided a blog post where they talk about some of the most discussed changes, first of which are the changes to the jumping. The post reiterates that they made some changes to make the games feel more cohesive, while still staying fairly true to the originals. They spent a lot of time studying the three titles and chose the handling from Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped as their base, but tweaked it a bit for each game. With Crash Bandicoot being the oldest of the three, this lead to more obvious differences in that than in the other two. One example of this is that we fall more quickly when releasing the X button in the remake than in the original.

Then there's the much researched collision and physics. Vicarious Visions admits that their game engine features a different collision system than the original games and this, combined with the new physics, has lead to certain jumps requiring more precision than the originals.

Still, they hope that the modernised save and checkpoint systems and the dynamic difficulty adjustment makes up for some of the extra challenge. Another aspect that helps is the online community coming together to share advice and tips with each other, which the studio loves to see. We might even see the community get even bigger as well, as the studio ends their post by saying that they'll have "some news that you won't want to miss" at their Comic-Con panel on Thursday. Could it be that they're ready to talk about which other platforms the remakes are coming to, or the rumoured expansion? What do you hope for?
