40,000 cheaters banned from Steam

It sounds like Valve purged its platform.

On July 6, Valve banned nearly 40,000 cheaters' accounts at the same time as the Steam summer sale wrapped up. The company had predicted that cheaters would take advantage of discounts on certain games to test new cheats on secondary accounts, as reported by Dot Esports, and so VAC was put to full use.

The previous ban record was from October 2016, when 15,277 accounts had been closed, so this record was definitely smashed by the latest spike in bans. According to the VAC-Ban website, almost $7,500 USD worth of skins were lost as a result of this recent purge as well, so there's no doubt a big impact on the cheaters out there.

Have you got any sympathy for those affected by the bans?
