Bungie has confirmed that a leaked document containing plot details for their next project, Destiny, is genuine. The document, originally prepared by an ad agency, outlines the central premise of the futuristic shooter.

"Our story begins seven hundred years from now in the Last City on Earth, in a Solar System littered with the ruins of man's Golden Age. A massive, mysterious alien ship hangs overhead like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it's here for, but only that it's our protector. Meanwhile, strange, alien monsters creep in from the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and the Last City. We are young ‘knights' tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters and - eventually - overcoming it."

Shortly after IGN published the leaked details, Bungie confirmed them on their website: "Well, that just happened... again."

As Bungie's statement indicates, this isn't the first time that details regarding Destiny have surfaced before their time. Earlier this month details were inadvertently made public by Demonware, a studio that handles online technology for Activision. Before that information regarding Bungie's next game were revealed in the court case between former Infinity Ward heads Jason West & Vincent Zampella and Activision.

Whilst Bungie might not be particularly happy about the leak, they took it with good grace, posting a picture on their site with the comment: "Go ahead. Take a peek. It's alright. We weren't quite ready, but we will be soon, and we can't wait to finally show you what we've really been up to. Stick around, we haven't even started yet."

So here it is, the new concept art to Bungie's next game, Destiny:
