Five games to pick up in the Steam Summer Sale
Here's our thoughts on the must-buy games during the annual sale.

The Steam Summer Sale is upon us once more, and with it come discounts galore. Not sure what games to pick up this year? Let us enlighten you.

Transistor - £2.49

Supergiant Games found immense success with their first indie hit, Bastion, and attempted to emulate that in their second title, Transistor. While the game took a more strategic combat route than Bastion, the story it told, combined with the chill-inducing soundtrack and mesmerising visuals made Transistor a must play title for anyone that enjoyed Supergiant's first title. The current price of £2.24 is the lowest it has ever been, so there's no better time to pick it up. You can read our review here and check out the trailer below.

Torchlight II - £3.74

Torchlight II takes everything the first instalment did, and simply makes it better. Play with your friends or solo, explore a vast open world, fish for items, and make your pet lug all your items back to town for you, along with a mod system providing endless hours of content; it all makes for a lot of laid back, action RPG fun. It's currently 75% off at £3.74, and is a fantastic choice if you're looking to play with a friend. Check out our review here and watch the trailer below.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - £3.19

The sequel to the first smash hit set in the treacherous land of Mordor is nearly upon us, and what better way to prepare than by delving into Shadow of Mordor and slaying some orcs. With a revolutionary hierarchy system that means the orcs get stronger every time they kill you, build your legend and ultimately confront the evil of Sauron in one of the best games of 2014. £3.19 is an all-time low, so read our review here and check out the trailer below.

Metro Redux Bundle - £6.24

Based off the bestselling novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky, both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light are first person shooters set in the incredibly atmospheric universe of post-apocalyptic Russia. Face off against monsters and human foes alike, struggling to survive with a limited supply of ammo, weapons, and gas masks, the Redux bundle has remastered both titles and updated the visuals. £6.24 is a historic low price for the bundle, and with Metro Exodus on the horizon, there's no better time to pick it up. Read our review for 2033 here and Last Light here, while you can watch the trailer below.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition - £17.49

Open world RPGs are a dime a dozen these days, but few do it better than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The third instalment in the fabled Witcher series, Wild Hunt sees players assume the role of Geralt once more and embark on a quest to find his one true love, Yennefer, and save his daughter, Ciri, all while trying to prevent the invasion of the Wild Hunt, led by the fearsome Eredin. Love, lust, and loathe are just three emotions you'll feel while playing The Witcher 3, and the GOTY edition comes with all the DLC. Expect to get 100+ hours out of this game, and it's an absolute steal at £17.49. Read our review here and check out the trailer below.
