SAG-AFTRA member Ashly Burch has revealed that she is "heartbroken" that she won't be able to reprise the role as Chloe in Life is Strange: Before the Storm, as the dispute over working conditions rumbles on.
Rather than wait for union dispute to resolve itself, Square Enix has decided to work with non-union actor Rhianna DeVries, confirming at the same time that Burch is helping write the character:
Ashly Burch, Chloe's original voice actor, makes a welcome return to the family this time on writing duties. . . It's great to have her writing dialogue for a new younger, 16 year old Chloe.
"I'm pretty heartbroken," Burch told Kotaku. "It feels sort of like you were forced to put your kid up for adoption."
She later added: "I broke off a little piece of my soul when I did the first Life Is Strange and put it in Chloe. Playing Chloe turned out to be a tremendously personal experience for me, an almost cathartic experience."
The first episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm is heading to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on August 31.
