Last night Star Wars: The Old Republic - the Bioware MMORPG set in a galaxy far, far away - switched from a subscription model to being free-to-play.
Each of the eight classes that launched at the end of last year will now be playable up to level 50 for free, meaning an incredible amount of content is available to those willing to give the game a try.
"We want to give our players the freedom to enjoy Star Wars: The Old Republic when and how they want," said Matthew Bromberg, GM over at Bioware Austin. "There has never been a better time to start playing with us."
Also released yesterday was the latest update, 1.5: HK-51 Activated. The update adds new areas, and a new companion character, the Assassin Droid, HK-51 (who'll be strangely familiar to those who played Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II).
