EA have splashed a bit of cash on UK based publisher Chillingo the other day. Reports suggest the deal was worth $20 million, but the publisher's breakout success Angry Bird is not included in the deal as the developer Rovio holds all rights. In fact, Rovio just released Angry Bird Halloween on Appstore.

Through their twitter Rovio said the following: "We did not sell to EA, Chillingo did. We own Angry Birds and all the rights." Rovio also went on to say that they won't use Chillingo as a publisher for future games, preferring to self-publish them.

Angry Birds has sold more than 6.5 million copies through Appstore. Chillingo recently published another successful game, Zeptolabs Cut the Rope on Appstore and it sold one million copies in just ten days. They also have a social gaming platform called Crystal available across Apple devices. But no IP's were part of the deal as the rights are held by the respective developers of the game.
