Call of Duty: WWII has been officially announced as of last Friday, and now we've been provided with some more details about what's coming, including campaign, multiplayer, and more.

"In Call of Duty: WWII, players will battle across Europe through strategic locations in history's most monumental war. Experience iconic Call of Duty combat, the bonds of camaraderie, and the brutality of war against a global power throwing the world into tyranny. Players will engage in combat across three robust game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Co-Operative," the press release explains. Campaign mode will see you fight in World War II, multiplayer will be more "boots-on-the-ground" than previous games, and will see you tackle a variety of modes, and co-op includes its own original story with a "dark new enemy."

The press release describes the campaign as a "story of heroism on a global scale, through the unbreakable brotherhood of common men fighting to preserve freedom in a world on the brink of tyranny. Players enlist in a gritty, intense campaign through the harrowing battlegrounds of war, facing overwhelming odds and hostile terrain across Europe, in a gripping experience that honours the history of World War II."

The story will allegedly feature cinematic moments that will "redefine" the war for a new generation, as well as tell the story of Ronald "Red" Daniels, a private in the US army, as he travels through the UK, Paris, and Germany. "The story campaign delivers the gritty authenticity and cinematic intensity of WWII combat, honouring the unforgettable heroism of the Fighting First." This will include moments like the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.

Multiplayer is also talked about in depth, and the emphasis is on the roots of the series, with this game featuring much more grounded warfare than recent games, as well as classic weapons and some new features too, such as Headquarters, which offers a "robust social space dedicated to engagement off the frontlines, Headquarters paves the way for all-new avenues of Multiplayer interaction, recognition and awards unlike anything experienced in the franchise to date."

Other new features include Divisions, where you can choose to be in divisions such as Armored and Infantry, as well as War Mode, where teams clash for strategic objectives. Lastly, co-operative sees you delve into a "new and original story" as part of a standalone game experience, which provides something separate from the story and multiplayer modes.

After hearing all these details, are you convinced this game is moving in the right direction?
