Last night a giant Halo 4 Glyph flew over the Thames to mark the return of Master Chief.

The Glyph measured over 50 feet in diameter, weighed over three tons, and according to the press release, was one of the largest and brightest objects to ever take to the sky over a capital city. It took at team of over 50 people to design and make, and it included a total of 113,096 LEDs.

Microsoft's Chris Lewis said: "The Glyph flyover makes the seemingly impossible world of science fiction a reality, a 50 foot symbol of the Didact hovering in the skies of a major capital city, seems a fitting way to herald the next chapter of this phenomenal blockbuster franchise."

After the show the official midnight launch took place in GAME's store in Westfield Stratford, where as was the case at retailers around the country, fans queued to get their hands on the latest chapter in the Halo series.
