Soon after Switch's global presentation a month ago, Nintendo had to get out ahead of speculation by making it clear that the system doesn't come with multimedia or social apps pre-installed by default. That means no web browser, YouTube, Netflix, Facebook or even multimedia player at launch (even if it has been confirmed users will be able to share screenshots via social channels). Then NoA explained they were focusing 100% on gaming content for release, and despite the rumours, they never ruled out apps could arrive later on as downloads from the Nintendo eShop.

Indeed, with today's leak of the final user interface of the Switch, a relevant option related to these non-gaming apps has been unveiled, specifically in the console's Sleep Mode settings screen:

"Suspend Auto-Sleep While Playing Media Content
Prevents auto-sleep from activating while media content is playing. If this option is disabled, the console will still go to sleep after four hours of media playback."

Evidently, Nintendo Switch and its software v1.0.0 is prepared to either to to sleep or stay active when user is playing music or video for a certain amount of time, and thus it's just a matter of time until we see multimedia player apps, be it storage-based or streaming-based.
