We've heard rumours of the Call of Duty series returning to its roots by going back to World War 2 for quite some time, and they definitely heated up when Sledgehammer Games released an interesting image at the start of the year. The rumour mill will pretty much explode after today's announcement though.
During today's earnings call, Activision Blizzard revealed that the next Call of Duty, which they reiterated is developed by Sledgehammer Games, will return to "traditional combat". The giant publisher acknowledged that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare hasn't done as well as they'd like, and said that they're now "giving players what they want."
