It's been known for a long time that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will have both English voices and subtitles as well as the original Japanese. This is fairly common these days - like in Final Fantasy XV - as fans of mainly manga and animé tend to prefer the original voices. But in the upcoming game, this comes with a complication, as you can only have Japanese text for Japanese voices and English text for English voices.

That means that if your Japanese isn't up to par, it'll be very hard to play through Link's latest adventure without having English voices. This was confirmed in an interview with producer Eiji Aonuma, who said: "We really don't know why this artificial limitation is in the game, and hopes that it can be easily changed afterwards with a patch as we suspect gamers these days likes to make these choices for themselves."

Would you rather play with English or Japanese voices? Is this news disappointing?
