The best selling home console in the United States for the last two months in the USA has been the PlayStation 4, but not the new, powerful PS4 Pro. Americans instead opted mostly for a basic bundle with a PS4 slim plus Uncharted 4: Thief's End, NPD reported via Games Beat.

No official figures were made public, but Windows Central reported just a few hours before the release of the list with the best-selling games of 2016, saying that only 238,000 out of 1,568,000 PS4 units sold in December in the US were the Pro model. This means that only one of seven customers chose the expensive one.

Thing weren't much better in the second biggest video game market in the world: Japan. According to Media Create, 117,050 units of PS4 Pro were sold in Japan in 2016, less than a fourth of the 495,104 units of the regular version sold in the same period.

When Sony informed us at the end of last year that PlayStation surpassed 50 million units worldwide, they neglected to explain how the new model was doing. We still don't know the whole picture, but the figures reveal one thing at least: the PS4 Pro is not the first option. Is it yours?
