Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that more than 50 million PlayStation 4 units have been sold, as of December 6 this year, this being helped in no small part by the best ever Black Friday week in PlayStation's history.

These sales also include the PS4 Pro, and PS4 software sales are strong as well, with over 369.6 million copies sold in shops and digitally as of December 4.

"We're truly delighted that the PS4 community continues to flourish since launch three years ago," commented Andrew House, the President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. "With tremendous support from our fans and partners across the globe, this year we were able to deliver an unprecedented lineup of hardware such as the new slimmer PS4, PS4 Pro, and PlayStation VR. We will continue to provide the best gaming experiences available through our ground-breaking software lineup and network services, as we focus on accelerating our business and expanding the PS4 ecosystem."

PlayStation has a lot of upcoming games to look forward to as well, so sales shouldn't do too badly over the coming months either, what with Horizon Zero Dawn, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and Gravity Rush 2 all coming soon. Do you see these numbers continuing to rise?
