Gamereactor recently spoke with Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3's Senior Level Designer Tomek Pruski about the game's story and how the three core gameplay pillars work, those being sniper, ghost and warrior.

Pruski told us that in the game you "play as John North, an American sniper sent behind enemy lines to Georgia to disrupt local separatist operations and eliminate high value targets, but that's your official mission. Your private agenda is to find your brother who is also a soldier and has been last sighted in this region, so you've got to look for him."

In regards to the first pillar and possibly the most obvious one, sniper, Pruski said "it is realistic but it's still approachable so people who haven't played sniper games before will have no trouble picking it up. It takes some skill and it takes some getting used to and it takes into consideration wind and distance and a couple of other factors. You have to adjust your scopes and adjust your aim to combat those elements."

Pruski also talked about how this works with the other two core gameplay pillars. "Usually most of the players will mix and match these three elements, so it's not like three different games in one package, it's three approaches that complete this one great experience. So you can first pick off a couple of guys that are in isolated positions as a sniper, then come in quietly as a ghost, take a couple of melee takedowns and use your silenced pistol, and then if you get caught you can shoot your way out as a warrior."

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is out on January 27 2017 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

"While it's solid enough, it could definitely do with some more original ideas and a few neat touches."
