Hello Games receives "loads of death threats" over delay

It seems some fans didn't take kindly to No Man's Sky slipping a couple of months.

Hello Games' Sean Murray took to twitter following the announced delay of the eagerly awaited No Man's Sky, and while he thanked fans for their support, he also explained the reason why the announcement came so close to the previously communicated release date:

"Thanks to everyone for being so supportive. Apologies to anyone who feels hurt by this. We'll try make it up to you with a good game"

"Sorry I haven't been able to say anything til now. With retail games, there are legal/external reasons why you can't talk freely about dates"

"New dates apply for PC and PS4. We're running around trying to get all the official pages updated"

"The Sony Blog post going live at 1am surprised us, but we wanted to let people know as soon as we could. Things are moving quite quickly"

There is a darker side to this as well, as revealed in the following tweet:

"I have received loads of death threats this week, but don't worry, Hello Games now looks like the house from Home Alone #pillowfort"

Now, while not entirely surprising considering the climate that exists on certain platforms, it is still appalling. Pro tip: You're not likely to get your game any faster by threatening developers.

No Man's Sky will see release in the UK on August 12 (PC and PS4), while the rest of Europe gets it a couple of days earlier.
