Gearbox Software's much antipicated Alien game, Aliens: Colonial Marines, turned out to be quite a turkey that got universally bad reviews and a flood of backlash for the studio.

But while the game was widely regarded to be a massive disappointment, some people apparently saw potential. One of those people is a modder going by the name of TemplarGFX, who's set out to actually make the game good.

The result is a mod called TemplarGFX's ACM Overhaul, and it's every bit as ambitious as its name is difficult to pronounce. According to the official description, the mod "reprograms and rebalances Xeno AI, Human AI, Weapon Mechanics, Ballistics, Animations, Shaders, Particles, Decals, Lighting, and engine features to get the best out of the game possible."

Judging by user reviews of the mod, TemplarGFX has done an impressive job in making the game actually fun to play. We haven't tried it ourselves yet, but if you're among the few who picked up a PC copy of Aliens: Colonial Marines, give it a try and let us know what it's like.
