FPS Gears of War?

Epic's Rod Fergusson has gone on record and suggested that an FPS entry into the Gears of War franchise wasn't impossible. Speaking to OXM, the executive producer said: "I'm a big believer in never say never."

"It's all about what's interesting in the industry at the time and where fans want us to take it. We don't want to say never but it's not on the top of my mind either. We look at what makes sense and move in that direction."

Gears of War: Judgement, a prequel to the series being made by People Can Fly, was revealed at this year's E3. It will be interesting to see which direction Epic takes the franchise next; at least we now know that a first-person shooter is under consideration, even if it isn't likely. Whether or not fans of the series would welcome a potential change remains to be seen.
