Final Fantasy Versus XIII canned?

Kotaku reports rumour.

Kotaku posted a rumour saying that Final Fantasy Versus XIII - a game announced back at E3 2006, has finally been put to rest by publisher Square Enix.

Kotaku cites various sources, one claiming the game was finally cancelled a few weeks ago, with another claiming that the team folded into the Final Fantasy XV team a couple of months back. Of course, given the inexact nature of these rumours both could be true.

Apart from the occassional life sign, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, has not been shown a lot since its announcement and the upcoming months will probably show whether or not the cancellation is in fact true.

CVG reached out to Square Enix for a comment, but was predictably turned down. If Final Fantasy Versus XIII has indeed been cancelled, Square Enix wants it to die quietly.
