The Game Developer Choice Awards is the closest thing to the Academy Awards we've got in the video game industry as a jury of peers select their favourite games of last year. This year's edition, the 16th one, will as usual be held during GDC week in San Francisco on March 16.

Two titles scored four nominations, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from CD Projekt Red and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain from Kojima Productions. Other games with multiple nomations include Fallout 4 (3), Bloodborne (3), Rocket League (2), Her Story (3), Star Wars Battlefront (3), Splatoon (2), Undertale (3), Downwell (2), and Ori and the Blind Forest (3).

Host this year will be Robin Hunicke, co-founder of Funomeno, and perhaps best known for having produced Journey at ThatGameCompany. In addition to these awards there will also three special awards as usual - the Pioneer, Ambassador and Lifetime Achievement awards - these will be announced at a later date.
