World of Warcraft: Legion has been "in planning for years"

Blizzard plan expansions in groups and it was a question of whether to launch Warlords of Draenor or Legion first.

Blizzard announced the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion: Legion at this year's Gamescom in August. We got a hold of Game Director Tom Chilton and Lead Game Designer Ion Hazzikostas and grilled them extensively on new features, the new landmass and the development process.

Among other interesting facts Tom Chilton revealed that Legion has been in planning for well over three years now:

"We go through multiple expansions at a time and there was a point in which we were trying to decide the order of which should come first, Warlords of Draenor versus Legion ... and we had decided that the right thing story wise was for Warlords to come first and lead into Legion. So we have known what we are going to do on core level since two and half three years ago or so now. It was around 2012 we were talking about that."

There is huge amount of info to World of Warcraft: Legion in the 15-minute interview, so if you are even a bit curious about the expansion better take a break from what ever you are doing and push the play button.
