Carbine Studios's Wildstar was off to a strong start when it launched last year, quickly reaching a million active players but player numbers soon fell. And so it was no surprise when the developer announced this spring that the game would go free to play. What was surprising was that they announced it some months out from the shift, giving players time to digest it and for the developers to properly test out new features. On September 29 Wildstar will go completely free-to-play. And you can read up more on how this change will manifest itself over on the official website.
