Just ahead of PAX Prime, Double Fine Productions and publisher Adult Swim Games have revealed the next game from Tim Schafer's wonderfully creative studio. Headlander is a retro sci-fi puzzle platformer action game that lets you control a head capable of swapping bodies. Check out the glorious announcement trailer below.

This is a snippet from Double Fine about the story and setting:

"You are the last known human in the universe, and all that's left of you is a disembodied head. Seeking clues to your fractured past, you must travel through a hostile world of machines, using a special helmet that allows you to dock into and take control of any robotic host body. As you launch from one body to the next, you'll start to discover that things are not quite what they appear to be, and the fate of humanity has yet to be decided..."

No announcement has been made with regards to platform, but we'd be willing to bet this game is heading to Steam. Whether it's also heading to PS4 and/or Xbox One remains to be seen. Either way we certainly like where this is heading...

REVIEW. Written by Bengt Lemne

"It may not be the most polished and rewarding metroidvania we've ever come across, but it certainly makes up for it in other areas."
