A few days ago Ubisoft (re)announced Zombi, a new-gen remake of Wii U's former exclusive survival horror that is set to land on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on August 18.

Being a game specifically created for Wii U's GamePad, many have wondered how Ubisoft managed to adapt those specific features (such as, for example, the inventory found on the second screen of Nintendo's console) to console and PC. Regarding that, Hélène Henry, Zombi's producer, had this to say on Ubisoft's official blog:

"We knew from the beginning that maintaining the tension and feel of the original was one of the main challenges, as the way ZombiU was presented on Wii U cannot be reproduced," the producer explained.

While the minimap (which formerly required players to glance down at the Wii U gamepad) has been moved onto the main screen, "we maintain a minimal HUD as much as possible," Henry added. "It disappears when not required, giving the game a very lonely feeling. If you have surround sound, the awesome sound mix from the original still stands and greatly helps immersion. As much as possible, we've tried to keep those key elements."

And talking about other technical elements that have been improved, Henry said: "Also, there has been a slight increase in the field of view and players can increase and decrease it a little if they want to, but not so much that it takes away that claustrophobic feeling. Some work was also undertaken on the control mapping and response to improve the look and feel of the first-person movement."

It seems that the game has been affected by important changes so it can be ported to new platforms. We are really curious about how this new version of ZombiU...oops, Zombi will work.

"It does offer some neat ideas, just don't expect to be blown away."
