When Metroid Prime: Federation Force was announced during this E3, it'd be fair to call the reaction from fans as mixed. You could even go as far as saying that fans were disappointed, angry even.

Following on from this, Nintendo of America's President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime has spoken out about reception enjoyed by Federation Force, before adding that those who've played the divisive title have so far come away impressed.

"What the fan at home saw was something in the Metroid Prime universe that they weren't expecting. The reaction has been negative. There's no sugar coating it," Fils-Aime told Mashable.

"This is an example where fans who aren't able to get their hands on the game may be at a bit of a competitive disadvantage. Everyone who has played what we are showing regarding Metroid Prime, they've come across really pleased," he added before saying: "My ask is that fans trust us."

Metroid Prime: Federation Force is heading to Nintendo 3DS sometime next year, which gives them plenty of time to turn around public opinion.

REVIEW. Written by Fredrik Säfström

"As competent an action game as this is, we can't help but think how good it could have been if Nintendo had just made this the long awaited comeback of Samus instead."
