In the midst of a panel Q&A during MetroCon, actor Nolan North only went and confirmed that Naughty Dog are working on The Last of Us 2.

North, who revealed that the studio are indeed working on the sequel to 2013's game of the year, casually discussed the fact with the audience, as well as explaining the reason that his character from the first game won't be returning for the next.

"I know they're doing The Last of Us 2, but my character from The Last of Us met an untimely demise," Nolan joked, succinctly explaining his absence. Head here to see the confirmation for yourselves.

The revelation comes hot-on-the-heels of North discussing both how months of work on Uncharted 4 was left on the cutting room floor and the new Star Wars game developed by former Naughty Dog dev Amy Hennig at Visceral, which North describes as a mix of Star Wars and Uncharted.

Update: Troy Baker, the actor who played Joel in the original, has also been talking about Naughty Dog's IP (albeit at a different convention). During his panel he said that he knows nothing about a sequel to The Last of Us. Head here for more.
