BioWare recently became embroiled in a public discussion with fans regarding the ending to the final chapter of the incredibly popular Mass Effect trilogy.
Some vocal fans were unsatisfied with the conclusion to Mass Effect 3; their public protests eventually addressed by BioWare's co-founder and general manager, Ray Muzyka.
In an open letter he wrote: "I personally believe Mass Effect 3 is the best work we've yet created. So, it's incredibly painful to receive feedback from our core fans that the game's endings were not up to their expectations."
He also added: "Some of our loyal fans are passionately expressing their displeasure about how their game concluded; we care about this feedback, and we're planning to directly address it."
It seems that BioWare's planned revision is on its way. The post on Reddit explains the content we're likely to receive:
"Mass Effect™ 3: Earth: The fighting is fiercest when it's your home at stake! Mass Effect 3™: Earth adds mods, gear, and new maps for Rio, Vancouver, and London. It features 3 new weapons: Piranha assault shotgun, Acolyte pistol, and Typhoon light machine gun. Six new human N7 classes are also available: Destroyer, Paladin, Demolisher, Slayer, Shadow, and Fury!"
"And as a bonus, Mass Effect™ 3: Extended Cut: An expanded ending for Mass Effect 3. Additional scenes and an extended epilogue reveal the impact of Shepard's choices on the future of the galaxy."
The post suggests that the Extended Cut will be available independently of the Earth DLC, meaning a double helping of content for the game is in the works.
