Xbox One gets new controller with mini jack support

You'll no longer have to dig around for that extra headset connector as the console's pad gets an update.

While the standard Xbox One Controller is a robust piece of kit, one of the big gripes is the lack of an in-built universal plug for headsets and earphones, forcing you to plug the secondary connector unit to the base of the controller.

However, this looks to change, as the official Xbox One Wireless Controller webpage is currently showing a new addition, which reads:

"3.5-mm port. Used to connect compatible 3.5-mm audio devices. Only available on controllers released after June 2015".

Although this is a minor (but of course useful) update and it can't be defined as a 'redesign' of the controller, the launch window mentioned on the quote suggests that it could be linked to a possible announcement related to Xbox One hardware during E3 or Microsoft's conference itself.

An additional question is how we'll be able to toggle the headset volume without the extra connector unit. Could we see an additional update to the Xbox One's dashboard similar to PS4's shortcut menu for toggling controller volume?
