In the middle of the Ubisoft conference it was not clear how it would play. The game was one of the surprises of the presentation for its strong style and bloodthirsty marketing as a Wii U-exclusive FPS. But the announcement came with a trailer in the style of Dead Island, without game scenes to demonstrate how Ubi Montpellier would use the Wii U Controller with the screen. Now, just after the Nintendo conference, the mechanics of the game have been discovered.

The company raises the game as a direct challenge: "Ubisoft challenges players to see how they could survive in the bleak and infectious ZombiU world." As noted in the infamous trailer, the zombie infested city is none other than London. The year, also the current, 2012, as this is a Wii U launch game.

Zombi U

The game "contains all the horror, chaos and tension that are in the best films of the horror genre and adds original elements such as the mechanics of death." This makes the player take control of a different survivor every time they die. When the player comes back, they can "pursue and hunt down its former incarnation, infected, to retrieve their equipment and see if this time may survive a little longer."

The biggest news appeared when the new U Wii GamePad came into play. This is the official description:

"The Nintendo Wii Controller serves as the player's ultimate survival kit, called the "Bug Out Bag." The Bug Out Bag is a backpack containing all the maps, tools, weapons and supplies that players can scavenge from the limited resources available in the devastated cityscape. ZombiU also will use the Nintendo Wii Controller's touch screen, gyroscope and camera to create a tactile connection between gamers and the in-game world.".

In addition, ZombiU has a multiplayer mode, different because a player takes the role of "zombie master", placing items on the stage from the air, "One player to take on the role of "Zombie Master," spawning and controlling enemies from a top-down view on the Nintendo Wii UTM GamePad while the second player fights for survival on the big screen in first-person shooter view with a Wii wireless classic controller."

This last sentence confirms the ZombiU cross-compatibility with the Wii Controller and should be popular with fans of the FPS genre and Wii U owners alike.
