Valve has launched a service that will let modders get paid for their work on Steam Workshop. The first game to feature paid-for mods is The Elder Scolls V: Skyrim, but Valve writes that they are merely starting with this game, so we're expecting to see this option come to other titles as well.

For those buying the mods there's a layer of protection; purchasers will have up to 24 hours to claim a refund if what they buy is broken or doesn't work as promised.

In order to make any money out of their creations, mods will have to make over $100 USD (to cover costs), and then modders will get 25% of the earnings. The other 75% goes to Valve and the original game developer. Creators will be able to choose between listing their content as paid, free, and pay-what-you-want.

If you want to make money from your modding, then head on over to Steam Workshop and find out how it's done.
