We sat down with Mike Dietz to discuss the creation of Armikrog, a claymation game and spiritual successor to The Neverhood that was funded via Kickstarter.
During the interview Dietz explained to us the genesis of the project: "We knew we wanted to do another game like this. When we did The Neverhood, those characters and that storyline was created by our pal Douglas TenNaple."
"So I called up Doug and said: "do you wanna do another one of these?" And did he have any ideas of like a storyline for the game and characters, and Armikrog was an idea that he had been kicking around for a while and he was looking for a place for it to live. And so he sent us a whole bunch of drawings of the characters and the world, and wrote a brief outline of the storyline, and it just sounded perfect for what we wanted to do."
During the interview we're also treated to an explanation of how the studio works with clay, which will certainly be of interest for those who want to know more about the technical side of the project.
There's no firm release date as yet, but as Dietz says during the interview, the team are hoping to release Armikrog this spring.
