Bungie are preparing for the arrival of Destiny's incoming expansion - House of Wolves - by increasing the Vault space available to each Guardian, giving them more room to store their hard-earned exotic and legendary loot.

"We know you need more space to collect all the treasures you gain from your missions, and more gear is on the way," they explained in the latest Weekly Update.

"Update 1.1.2 will push the boundaries of your secure repository. The new dimensions will let you store twenty-four (24) ARMOR pieces, thirty-six (36) WEAPONS, and twenty-four (24) GENERAL items," Bungie said. That's up from twenty in each, which will be great news for players who've long been asking for more space to stash their stuff.

There's very few implications for current-gen owners, but those playing on PS3 or Xbox 360 should know that the increase in inventory comes at a cost.

UI engineering lead Brad Fish explained that limited memory constraints on the old hardware meant that they had to "find some kind of compromise to enable it safely. We weighed the options, with player feedback in mind, and decided to move forward with the expansion by disabling the item comparison feature within the Vault on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360."

Update 1.1.2 is set to arrive in April. House of Wolves, the second expansion for the shared-world shooter, is set to follow thereafter, although no release dates have been confirmed as yet.
