American writer John L. Beiswenger, who sued Ubisoft and Gametrailers, over infringement of his 2002 novel Link, that is said to feature many of the components vital to the Assassin's Creed story, has decided to dismiss his charges against Ubisoft without prejudice (meaning he can go back to court at a later date). Meanwhile, Gametrailers decided to settle with the author.

It's good news for Ubisoft who plan on bringing out Assassin's Creed III this October, even if Beiswenger still seems to feel that the publisher has wronged him. One reason could be that Beiswenger realised that a court case against Ubisoft who prove very costly before he would see any money, or it could just be that he was looking for a quick out of court settlement and didn't really want to go to court over it.
