According to a new report, Sony are heading for their highest profit since 1998, with the PlayStation 4 the main focal point of what's proving to be an impressive turnaround for the company.

The successful launch of their latest console has seen a gradual rise in stock price for the platform holder, with a reported 81 percent increase over the last twelve months.

The article points to the studio's support for indies, and the diversity of their product range, as the source of their success: "The industry's focus has narrowed too much," Sony's Shuhei Yoshida told Bloomberg. "Can we continue producing interesting new products? That's become a real concern."

Latest reports (from VGChartz) are putting the PlayStation 4 as having sold 19 million units since its launch in late 2013.
